With over 100 full-time staff in 12 offices, Legal Aid of West Virginia is the state's primary provider of civil legal aid and advocacy services.  Our mission is to ensure that the most vulnerable among us -  low-income families, seniors, victims of domestic violence, the disabled - have an equal shot at justice, in the courtroom and in their communities.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Legal Aid of WV OFFICES will continue to be closed to the public until further notice. Our services are still open online and by phone.

You can apply for help online 24/7 by clicking on the "Apply" button on the upper right hand corner of this screen. To apply by telephone call (866) 255-4370 during our current hours (see below). 

Points to remember:

  • Our Application Line will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. 
  • Existing clients will not lose their attorney. Please be sure to contact them directly by phone or email if you have questions about the status of your case, or information about upcoming hearings that may be changed or cancelled. If you do not know how to contact them, call us at 866-255-4370 during business hours.
  • Free legal clinics are cancelled. Please check our website or social media for updates about when these services will resume. 
  • If you are representing yourself in court, without a lawyer, read this article to learn more about going to court during COVID-19.

Currently, all Lawyer in the School on-site legal clinics are suspended until further notice.
